"LIVING HISTORY"

How did you feel when Brown won the case against the Board? What impact did it have on your life?
1.) Let’s just say that the landmark case decision in 1954 came down to Brown vs. Board of education, I was quit young but, everything I know about it and read about it that was in its historic case and as it relates to the public integration of public education and prior to that landmark decision the public education was segregated and meaning blacks were at one school and whites were at another and so “um” that ended that segregation and I think it has greatly impacted the education process for blacks in particular. Ended legal segregation in public schools.

Describe what Martin Luther Kings letter "From Birmingham jail" and "I have a Dream" speech mean to you?
2.) Well the first part of the question about the letter to Birmingham jail, Dr. King was at the time was president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and was heavenly involved in the civil rights movement and so Dr. King had gone to Birmingham to “um” because of the injustice system there. Out of frustration he wrote the clergymen about his views on the injustice system afflicted on African Americans, as you know their have been a lot of unsolved bombing. This was of African Americans families, known as Negroes back then. In churches and African Americans would not be able to vote and just all those injustices that “um” were afflicted upon blacks and so he was trying do right without the wrong, he had been criticized by the clergymen. They referred to him as a “outsider”, but Dr. King stated in that letter to in parts that anyone born in the U.S. should never be considered a outsider and he was there because of those injustices and "um" he had been Dissatisfied with their leadership, the church in particular the white churches and their leadership and so Dr. King was their to "um" fight those injustices. The I have A Dream speech was on April 28,1963 in Washington D.C. at the Momorial , that was the largest turnout for any public speaking in the history of America. Dr. King and about 200 hundred 50 thousand people gathered their and they discussed the injustice system and blacks, and also that the Declaration of Independence gives all men the equal right and the “Freedom of the Pursuit of Liberty, and injustices to all men.

How did President John F. Kennedy's assassination impact you?
3.) it greatly impacted me because, I was a teen during that time but president Kennedy was one president that I could identify with in terms of during things that would lift black people up and help people in general. We were in need of social services and just making life better for the good of their lives. And so when Kennedy was assassinated it was just a very sad time, “it still saddens me today” to think of that time “um” I was on my way from work when I learned that news about his assassination, and it was just a very devastating moment.

Do you think that the sit-ins and freedom rides had a good impact on the civil rights movement?
4.) Yes I do, back in the 50s and 60s they were taking place all over the South. Freedom riders were traveling throughout the South to retail stores, restaurants, hotels and public accommodations were an issue. The voter’s registration integration of counters was a big issue. It greatly impacted the Civil Rights movement. In 1964 Greensboro North Carolina gained national attention to help launch the Civil Rights movement.

Why do you think on early television they portrayed women as housewives and nothing more?
5.) Largely because women were looked upon as caretakers their main role was to take care of their families, nurture them. Men were the breadwinners-working to financially support their families.

Do you think the baby boomer’s impacted society in a good or bad way?
6.) I think in a good way, they took on responsibility that was handed down to them from their parents, so I think they are responsitors to our society. They carry the torch of their generation.

Do you consider Malcolm X as a role model for youths today who want change?
7.)Yes I do, Malcolm Little also known as Malcolm X born in 1925, during a time of a lot of turmoil relating to race relations, so I believe he was a very frustrated man during his early years, because his family had suffered many attacks from the KKK; for example: his father was slavishly murdered by a white man, family home was burned and mother was institutionalized because of stress, so Malcolm lost hope and turned to the way of petty crimes. He was jailed as a teen, but it was during that time that he alienated himself from the jail population and educated himself and so this was the beginning of him becoming a better person. His life relates to many young people of today-black males in particular.

When Jackie Robinson integrated baseball did you feel the world was making a big change as far as blacks and whites coming together as one?
8.) Well, again this was during my early childhood years 1947, when he was allowed to play baseball with other white ball players, so what I know it caused a lot of tension, with him breaking the color barrier line-caused a lot of tension in the sports world. He wasn’t welcomed to the league. His wife and family endured a lot of harassment from whites, but overall it brought blacks and whites together… “a movement was coming”

How did you feel about the 2000 election of President George W. Bush?
9.) “Well, that’s one for the history books”, what I mean is that was a lot of controversy regarding the outcome for the alleged voting problems, lots of concerns about improper count of votes in the Florida electoral votes etc… eventually U.S. Supreme court declared Bush the winner due to wealthy people influence. “I think”, that was the closes presidential election since the mid 1800s.

What did you think about the world after 9/11?
10.) “Aaww jeese”, for me it was “um” another sad day in America for me because innocent people lost their lives. I believe all Americans were impacted by 9/11. The days following the attack were a time for reflection and a time to reach out to our fellow man. That’s enough-strings up my emotion again.

Explain changes in the world that took place when Ronald Reagan was President?
11.) I’ll just say this was the era of Reaganomic-meaning a recession. Social services cutbacks were negatively impacted, poor people lost a lot during that time. The Cold War ended and the Berlin Walls comes down.

When you were sitting at the inauguration and they were swearing President-elect Barack Obama into office what was going threw your head at that present time? Do you feel that he will deliver and bring the United States change?
12.) Well, I was in Washington DC, at the historical swearing in of the 1st African American for president, Barack Obama. Their were so many people I don’t exactly know where I was in the court, but I do know I was aver joyed and grateful to GOD that I lived to see the day. It was especially exciting to share this event with two of my granddaughters and my husband as well. Yes, I do feel (in time) president Obama will bring change to the U.S. as he worked to find solutions to the monumental economic problems currently facing the U.S.

BAD THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS GOOD TO WAIT TO FIX...

I disagree because people change for many different reasons good or bad. I think if you want to change your life then you should change for the better or worse. Most people wait till something bad to happened to want to make a change in their life. I think that waiting for something bad to happened in your life to want to change might be to late and you want have that desire to change because it will be to late. I think if you feel your life is not where you want it then you should make that change and do something about it before it gets to the bad and you can not do anything about it. So, I feel that it is your choice to change for the good or wait to everything is bad and make it harder on yourself to change.

Should the U.S. get involved with other countries affairs.

Personally I do not believe that the U.S. should get involved into other countries affairs, because we have enough problems of our own to be concern with what goes on in other countries. I am not saying it to be rude, but I just feel that the U.S. has problem of their own that need to be fixed and I do not think that you can help anyone else fight a battle if you still have one to fight in you own country. So, that is my opioion on that.

Is it okay to jump in other people business

I have jumped in someone elses business, because It was my cousin and her boyfriend was beating up on her and I was not going to stand around and watch him continually beat her until one day he kills her. I think it is necessary to jump in other's business if and only if you know what is truley going on in tha person's life that is causing harm. I think people should mind their own business all the times, most people don't want you all in their life, if they want you to know what is going on they would come to you and let you know the problem is.

Money Runs Out One Day!!!

Most people make it out to be all about the money, but life is more than just money. I think peoples actions are driven by money because people think money makes the world go around and it doesn't. Money can make you happy, but not forever because money comes and goes. No, everybody is the same one is just more wealthlier than the other. Everybody is made equal and no one person is better than any other because they have money and the other person does not. Most prople work to get their wealth and some people are born into wealth. It is the person that worked to get the wealth, wealth. It isn't your responsibility to share your wealth with anyone, but it would be a good jesture to help out people that need the extra help. I think that money is a great accerosory to have but it is not the world.

PHOTO PERSPECTIVES!!!!

Dead Confederate Soldiers

Look at this pointless battle,

all the dead soldiers lay around

most had families and friends,

they will never see again.

Where are they now,

with gun shot or stab wounds

fighting for what’s right

all the hard knock soldiers lives has come to and end.

All these soldiers

Are just left for dead

fighting for our world

in this big old hard case world full of land.

What about their families

At home cheering them on

how would they feel

if they knew a loved one was gone?

Forgive the ones that took these lives

The soldiers

this was a grieving time in history

They learned a lesson in history

THE TENT

Blood; Blood

please go away

why are so many solider dying

I feel sad for many the live

whipped, hornets, sawbonessoldiers

are in all kind of conditions

I hate seeing this everyday

Do you have any ideal what I see on a day to day basis.

I witness one solider with an Arkansas toothpick

piercing into his bread basket

Thinking he would be dead

Surprisingly he survived.

Chief cook

Why are we going through this?

Bottle washer

It is life the world needs to be fixed

One day it will all get better.

Fit to be tied

all these people are being wounded

on a day to bay basis

The world please come to a end with wounded soldiers and wars one day…

MY TOP TEN EXCITING EVENTS FROM 1789-1850

MY DOG FIGHT!!!

It was about two years ago and I was at home and I was having a little get together with some of my family members and thing and one of my cousins friends had came over and she was drinking and things, I had just gotten a baby pit bull and it was so pretty. She asked me to use my bathroom and I said yes and when she came out the door she picked my dog up by the neck in the air and just dropped him and broke his leg and my temper took over and I beat up my cousins had to pull me off of her. It ended with my dog in the hospital and her with a hurt leg. Was it a good thing to do no it was not. I do not regret it because she should have not been drinking and acting stupid.isn't. We never were friends so it just distanced the two of us farther apart. My lessons learned was don't fight them just call the cops and let them handle it to keep myself out of trouble.

My Life Growing up both Easy and Hard!!!

Growing up for me wasn’t the picture perfect dream. I have been through some stuff. I was tossed around from house to house in my family. You know it’s sad when the only time some of your family members want to see you is when you have a check coming in your name each month, well that was my life doing my teenage years. My childhood years were the best, I lived with my grandmother and she spoiled me to death with any and everything I wanted. As I got older and so did she till the point were she couldn’t see to me anymore. Then I had to move and live with one of my aunts that had my siblings. I was just ready to die because I swore that woman couldn’t stand me. I hated I ever had to leave. As I got used to being there it was cool for a while then out of my mother died and that was the beginning of war because I was crushed she died four days before my birthday and was buried on mine January 15, 2002. After that my life was hell to the fullest I quit caring about life, when I was old enough to quit school I did and didn’t look back and I left. I just started living it up in the street. That was when my life was painful and hard. If I could take it back all I would want is my mother back. Life is hard already losing someone close to you only makes it harder and harder. I wish I would of stayed in school, I wouldn’t be finishing it up right now, but it’s all good I will get their and beyond.

When is breaking the law justified.

There are alot of reason when it comes to the point when you may have to break a lwa of two to make people see the point that you are trying to get accross. Don't get it twisted I am not just saying you can just break the law just cause you can, but I am saying that some people have the right to voice their opinion on what they feel is right or wrong in the world. According to me right now in the world alot of wars need to be broken in this world today, and it just might take that person that broke that law to fix it.
The American Revolution started in 1775, what caused the war was that the Americans wanted to replace their government with another. Many of the reasons why were because most colonies wanted to break away from the British because of their taxes, trade regulations, and power. The war started out as a war for economic freedom. The war was a war thar ended up giving them their independence from Britians. That got it in the end.
Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was a civil rights activist, is the perfect example of a woman breaking the law that made a big impact on the world. Ms. Rosa Praks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. That right their sparked the begining of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. All of the colored people had picked a day to all boycott riding the dus, so that ended up in another arrest of Rosa Parks. Her reason for breaking the law was that she wanted not to be treated no different than the white people.
The Revolution and Rosa Parks were to major events of history, which ended up as justified laws that the world needed. I beleive these battles were fought so people could have their naturals rights. They were fought because both The American colonist and Rosa Parks wanted to be treated fairly without anyone else being treated better than the other because of what race or what side of the world they are on.
Both incidents were hisorical events to this day. They are being talked about and studied to this day. Without the bravery from the Americans and Rosa Parks this world would probably still be paying higher tax prices and still seragated blacks from whites. I am glad these two groups stood up for their rights. There rights were justified and very much needed.

Reflecting on The Boston Massaacre

This was just a careless act between four young guys that couldn't possibly have anything else to do so they decided to go and start with the people from Murray's barrack. I just found it stupid to start acting in violence and start cutting up people. That was my most shocking moment to see how they just went on a cuttingspree and cutting any and everything in their site. This was a pointless crime that should have never of happened.

Back Then and Now !!!

I learned that back then life was so much harder than it is now. Marriages back then was so demanding, they say once your married your married because God has demanded that you stay married. Being married now is so different people get married and divorces mostly half the people that tie the knot end up breaking it before a year is gone. What really caught my attention is when either the husband or wife are blaming each other of what they are doing wrong, or what they can't do right in not being beautiful, healthy, well-tempered and qualified as you want them to be , then there is nothing you can do about it beacuse you chose to marry them and God said you will stay together. I don't think that is fair, but everyone had there own way of living and that was theirs. Today's society is way different from back then from the way you look till the way you walk.

Would you Immigrate

I believe most immigrants come to the United States for more opportunities in life. Most leave family and culture behind, but I think when they come to the United States they are coming for a better life for them and their families despite they have to leave families behind. If their culture has nothing that benefits them there while they are their why wouldn't they leave. That have much more freedom and advancement in the United States to make themselves better, for them and their families. I just think they would have better opportunities in the United States.

It depends on where I am at in my life if I were to decided to immigrate somewhere, or move for money reasons or for freedom? I can't speak for everyone but I want a good paying job and if my life is on track and I was offered a better job in another country and I wanted to do what was in the job description of what I wanted to do then yes I would take the job, but if I was at a dead end and not doing anything with myself then yes I would move for more freedom if they really had more freedom.

What's the Purpose of the Government.

FIVE PURPOSES OF THE GOVERNMENT
1.To protect the people from being harmed.

2.Provides assistance like medicaid and welfare.

3.They enforce laws so that the world can run smoothly.

4.Give people the opportunity to get a good education.

5.The government allows their citizens to vote.

If the world wasn't following its own guidelines, then yes I would start a war for the simple fact nothing in the world is going the way it should and they are not following their own laws. That is the only way to capture the attention of the peole of the world, Then I would do what I feel is right to get the response that I want.
